ABOUT ONLINE LEAK SEALING SYSTEM

In process industry transfer of fluids and gases are undertaken through pipe lines at various pressure & temperatures controlled by valves, flanges, bends etc. installed in the pipe line system.

Leakages are inevitable through Flange joints, Valve glands, Welded joints, & bonnets, on pipe line and fittings etc.

To avoid pipeline / plant shutdown for conventional repair and to save energy losses through blowing of leaks, Decon’s repair those leakages in on-line, under running temperature & pressure without interfering the process in any way.

TECHNIQUE OF “ONLINE LEAK SEALING”
  1. FLANGES :

Leak from Flange joint is attended by injecting Thermo setting sealant compound around the damaged gasket through special adaptors fitted around the outer flange surface. To prevent escape of sealant in between the Gap of two flanges, a peripheral seal is formed by peening a wire or by fitting of specially designed pre-fabricated & machined ring clamp depending on the gap between two affected flanges. Normally, clamp is used when the gap between two flanges exceeds 7 mm or more. By injecting Thermo – setting compound we usually form another seal in between peripheral seal and failed gasket. The injected compound cures quickly (depending upon line temperature & pressure) to form a tough, resilient mass.

  1. VALVE GLANDS :

A special non-thermosetting compound is injected into the stuffing box. Valve continues to function normally after leak sealing.

  1. PIPELINES / BENDS / T-JOINTS :

A special fabricated & machined pipe clamp is enclosed on the pipe pinhole leak. Special sealant is injected to fill the box, which after gets cured stop the leakage.
On-line leak sealing repair can be treated as permanent. However, thermo-cycling factors would affect its length of life as they would affect as original gasket.

PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE RANGE:

Pipe line leakage of system, Hot water, Hydrocarbons, Air Blast from ambient temperature to 700°c and atmospheric pressure to 250 kgf/cm2 can be successfully sealed.

SEALANT COMPOUND:

The vital aspect in this service is the quality and effectiveness of sealant compounds. Range of sealant compounds has been developed to meet the exacting requirements at site. Various types & grades of compounds are used depending upon the products to be sealed & existing temperature & pressure rating of the same.
